Thomas LeRoy Korinek, 71, of Breckenridge, MN, passed away Thursday, October 2, 2014, at St. Francis Health Care Campus in Breckenridge. The funeral will be 11:00am, Tuesday, October 7, at New Life Church of God in Wahpeton, ND, with Pastor David Kuhfal officiating. The visitation will be on Monday, October 6, from 5:00 to 7:00PM, at Joseph Vertin & Sons Funeral Home in Breckenridge.
Tom was born on April 21, 1943, to Alfred and Lorraine (Leshovsky) Korinek in Breckenridge. He attended elementary school at Doran, MN and graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1961. Following high school, Tom did custom combining for a few years. He then obtained a position with Wil-Rich Manufacturing Company in Wahpeton, ND; a job he held for almost 30 years. He was working at Robanks when he retired in 2008. On January 29, 1966, Tom was united in marriage to Judy Bode, at St. Andrews Lutheran Church in Niagara, ND. From this union, they had 2 children, LeRoy and LaRae, and their foster-daughter, Dawn.
Tom was an avid outdoorsman, a gun enthusiast, and passionate about hunting and fishing. He was content putzing in his garage where many things were fixed, invented, innovated, and created. The fall was one of his favorite times of the year, appreciating the opportunity to help with beet harvest and enjoying the comradery it brought. Tom was particularly fond of watching Westerns, especially John Wayne movies.
Tom is survived by his wife of 48 years, Judy; his children, LeRoy, LaRae (David) Kuhfal, and foster daughter, Dawn (Steve) Ristau of Blackhawk, SD; 9 grandchildren; 1 great-grand child; his mother, Lorraine, his sister, Kate (Norm) Heideman; his aunt Phyllis Leshovsky; mother-in-law, Vera Odegaard of Niagra, ND. He is preceded in death by his father, Alfred.
