Army Staff Sgt. David C. Kuehl, 27, formerly of Wahpeton, North Dakota, was killed in combat in Iraq on May 22, 2007. His funeral will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2007 at 11:00 AM at the National Guard Armory in Wahpeton. Pastor Mark Manning will be officiating. Visitation will be Friday, June 1, 2007, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM at the National Guard Armory in Wahpeton. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Breckenridge, Minnesota.
David is survived by: His wife and daughter: Amy Kuehl and Messa, Rural Campbell, MN; His daughter from a previous marriage: Kiley Kuehl, West Fargo, ND; His parents: Keith and Laura Kuehl, Wahpeton, ND; His 2 sisters: Shawna Chenoweth and Wendy Kuehl, both of Wahpeton, ND; His 3 nephews: Tyler Chenoweth, Jacob Chenoweth and Ryland Pauly; His father-in-law and mother-in-law: Ralph and Sharon Klemm, Rural Campbell, MN; His sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Sara Demorett, of Bangor Sub Base, Bangor, Maine, and her husband Troy Demorett, USS Momsen, Everett Naval Station; His paternal grandmother: JoAnn Kuehl, Hankinson, ND; His family pets: Ozzy and Doodles.
He was preceded in death by: His paternal grandfather: Ed Kuehl; His maternal grandparents: Frances and Charles Heley.
David Charles Kuehl was born February 25, 1980 in Breckenridge, MN, the son of Keith and Laura (Heley) Kuehl. He attended school in Great Bend, ND and completed his education in Wahpeton, ND, graduating from Wahpeton High School in 1999.
David entered the U. S. Army on August 5, 1999, and did his Basic Training at Fort Benning, Georgia. Following basic training, David was transferred to Germany, where he was stationed until 2003. Upon returning to the United States he was stationed at Fort Hood, Texas.
On February 15, 2003, David was joined in marriage to Amy Klemm in Wahpeton. The couple lived at Fort Hood. David was deployed to Iraq in March, 2004, and returned to the U.S. in March, 2005. In July, 2005, he was transferred to Fort Lewis, Washington, where they lived until David was again deployed to Iraq on April 9, 2007. Their daughter, Messa, was born September 1, 2006.
David's most prized possessions were his two daughters, Kiley and Messa. Other highlights in his life included hunting, family barbeques, his truck, family pets, and his job with the Army Infantry.
