Robert Allan Anderson was born January 5, 1944 at Graceville, MN to Lawrence and Edna (Balmer) Anderson. He grew up on the family farm near Chokio, MN and attended school in Chokio. Bob was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church. He graduated from Chokio High School in 1964. Following graduation he moved to Minneapolis, MN where he worked for the railroad prior to attending Moeller Barber School in Minneapolis. He completed barber school in 1967 and then completed his apprenticeship in Golden Valley, MN. On July 27, 1968 he was united in marriage to Linda "Punk" Raasch at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Chokio. They were blessed with three daughters. Bob worked as a barber and Punk worked as a beautician in the Minneapolis area until 1970 when they moved back to Chokio and owned and operated a barber and beauty shop combination, along with raising hogs on their farm north of Johnson, MN. In 1985 they moved to Browns Valley, MN and Bob operated his own barber shop there. In 2001, Barber Bob and Punk moved to Breckenridge where he owned and operated Bob's Barber Shop until late this fall, when his illness forced him to close.
Bob has always been an avid sports fan, following the high school sports while living in Chokio in addition to following the Minnesota Twins and Vikings. He was also a volunteer fireman on the Chokio Fire Department. He loved fishing and hunting and taking his daily rides to check crops, watch wildlife and spend time with Punk. He made sure to take each of his daughters fishing over the years, and was even able to go hunting this year. He always enjoyed visiting with family, friends, and all of his customers at the barber shop. One of his greatest joys was the time spent with his grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
