Richard Jerome Lyman, a man whose hands were always busy either in the fields or under the hood of vehicle, passed away on June 19, 2024 at Frazee Assisted Living. Born on April 9, 1944, in Kent, Minnesota, the only child to Bernard and Stella Lyman, Richard lived a life that revolved around hard work and tinkering with machines. From his early days on the family farm east of Kent to his graduation from Breckenridge High School in 1963, Richard's dedication to farming was evident. Throughout his years, he continued to work locally, balancing his time between cultivating the land and immersing himself in automotive and body work. His proudest accomplishments lay in the art of fixing up old cars and tractors, ensuring they ran like new. From his union in 1968, he was blessed with four children that he cared, loved dearly, and treasured. He raised up the kids and passed on his knowledge and loved including them in all of his hobbies.
Richard's time off from work was filled with cherished moments spent with family and friends. He enjoyed playing cards and driving around visiting loved ones. Taking the kids to races brought him great joy, even if fishing trips were infrequent, they were memorable when they did happen. An avid fan of 70's and 80's sitcoms and wrestling matches, Richard loved watching these shows with his family. When he could, he enjoyed playing pool at the Doran bar with friends.
Richard is survived by his sons, Mike, Rick (Tami), and Ron (Sheri); daughter, Carolyn; grandchildren, Hunter, Dawson, Jesse, Keegan, Aidan, and Brenna; and many other loving family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents; maternal grandparents, and paternal grandparents.
