Richard Davison

Richard Davison, 78, of Tintah, MN, passed away on Saturday, December 11, 2021, at Sanford Medical Center, Fargo. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, December 17, 2021, at Harvest Outreach Church, Wahpeton, ND, with a visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Pastor Dominick Warne will be officiating. Burial will be held in Riverside Cemetery, Nashua, MN. Richard was born on April 17, 1943 in Breckenridge, MN to Robert and Doris Davison. Along with his younger sister Gail, he was raised on a farm one mile south of Tintah, MN. He graduated from Tintah High School in 1961. After attending college for two years, he worked for Bell Telephone installing phone lines in Minneapolis. In 1964, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, serving as an airplane mechanic while stationed in Puerto Rico and Guam. When he arrived back home, he continued his college education at the University of Minnesota, Morris from 1968-69. He married the love of his life Charlotte Willard from Nashua, MN on May 10, 1969 and began farming with his father. He, along with five other farmers, purchased the Tintah Grain Elevator and operated it for their farm businesses for several decades. As a farmer never retires, he continued to farm until the end but his time in the field slowed down several years ago when he turned management to his daughter Carrie and her husband Jim.

In addition to farming, Richard took a correspondence course on radio and tv repair and ran a side business repairing electronics in the 1970s. He continued to enjoy using technology and was an early adopter of personal computers.

Richard was an active member in his community, serving on the school board, volunteer fire department, church board, KCGN radio board of directors, Gideon’s, and American Legion.

Richard was a kid at heart and loved making his grandkids laugh by being silly. He loved to play games, do puzzles and build with his erector sets. He would spend hours with his model trains creating scenery and different layouts. His creativity also shined in the many woodworking projects he created for his family as well as paintings, iron sculptures, and garden pond landscaping. He was fascinated by steam engines and enjoyed participating in the Steam Threshers Reunion in Rollag. He enjoyed music and singing along to his favorite songs. He loved connecting with people and would often take the family on a drive to visit family and friends.

He had a large heart and treated everyone fairly and with kindness. He loved life, his family and would light up when he talked about Jesus. His faith was the most important thing in his life, and he tried to share that with as many people as he could.

He is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Doris Davison, his sister Gail Davison, three infant brothers, and many aunts and uncles.

Richard is greatly missed by his wife Charlotte, his four daughters Terrel Davison, Carrie (Jim) Guy, Rebecca (Wade) Davison, Leah (Aaron) Janz, and his five grandchildren Sienna Guy, Cody Guy, Kendra Guy, Sadie Janz and Caleb Janz.
