Peggy (Stach) Turner, 56, Rutland, ND, formerly of rural Wolverton, MN, died Friday, March 30, 2007 in (Mitchell Township) Wolverton, MN, Her funeral will be held Wednesday, April 4, 2007 at 11:00am at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Kent, MN with Fr. Kenneth Popp officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 3, from 4:00PM to 8:00PM with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM at Joseph Vertin & Sons Funeral Home, Breckenridge,MN. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the funeral at the church in Kent.
Peggy is survived by: Her 3 daughters: Amanda (Charles) Nelson of Centralia, WA; Samantha (Brad) Searles of Rutland, ND; Rebecca McKibben and her friend George Christensen of Rutland, ND; Her 5 grandchildren: Kian McKibben, Kyle McKibben, Austin Searles, Alexandria Searles, Kael McKibben; Her father: William "Bill" Stach of Wolverton, MN; Her brother: William "Bill" Stach Jr. of Wahpeton, ND; Her 3 sisters: Sandy Miller of Centralia, WA; Jean (Jerry) Russell of Lake Park,MN; Sue (Jeff) Rasmussen of Wolverton, MN; Several nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins, and many, many friends.
She was preceded in death by: Her mother: Evelyn Marie Stach; Her son: Gerald Irvin Martin Jr. Her brother-in-law: Mike Miller
Peggy was born December 6, 1950 to William and Evelyn (Fobes) Stach in Breckenridge, MN. Her education began in a country school near the family farm. In the eighth grade she started school in Breckenridge, graduating from Breckenridge High School in 1969. Peggy then moved to Seattle, WA and worked for the U.S. Postal Service. She was united in marriage to Gerald Irvin Martin on June 12, 1971 in a Catholic wedding ceremony in Seattle. The couple made their home in Bremerton, WA where Peggy was a stay at home mom. When her children were older, Peggy became a Certified Nurse Assistant and worked at the Bremerton Convalescent Center, Forest Ridge Nursing Home, and then the Washington State Veterans Home. She retired in 2000 due to health issues. Peggy returned to the Mid-West and has made her home in Rutland, ND since 2005.
Peggy enjoyed cooking, baking, and visiting with her family and friends. Her greatest passion was being a grandmother and spending time with her grandchildren.
