Throughout her life, Patti would lovingly tell family and friends, “The Best Is Yet to Come.” On Friday, September 4th, 2020, Patricia Ann Norby-Steenbock, of Fergus Falls MN, peacefully left her earthy home and entered into heaven - how right she was!
A public visitation will be held at Joseph Vertin & Sons Funeral Home in Breckenridge MN, Thursday, September 10th from 5-7 p.m. Due to health restrictions, a family-only service limited to 50 will be held Friday morning September 11, at First Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. Following the service, friends are invited to join the family at Oak Grove Cemetery, Fergus Falls, at 12 noon. Pastor Gretchen Enoch will officiate.
Patti was born November 13, 1935, in Fergus Falls, MN to Loren and Palma (Hagen) Norby. Growing up in the world of retail, Patti traveled and supported her family’s owned and operated Norby’s Department Stores. Born and raised in Fergus Falls, Patti graduated high school in the class of 1953. She went on to study business at St. Olaf College graduating in 1957.
Patti married Bruce Halverson and together they had three children, Kyle, Christian, and Heidi. On June 14, 1992, she married the love of her life Theodore “Ted” Steenbock, of Campbell MN. Twenty-eight years later, he was by her side as she left for her new home.
Patti lived by the Golden Rule and her love and joy for human connection was apparent in everything she did. We will all fondly remember Patti’s warm greeting and contagious smile, whether during her 30-years at Herberger’s, Mary Kay parties, and/or hostessing at Mable Murphy’s and The Pier. Her family and friends will remember her love of entertaining, decorating, and the way she delightedly celebrated each holiday and season. Patti made every single person feel special and loved.
The community of Fergus Falls will remember Patti’s support of the arts, serving on both the Center for the Arts’ Board of Directors and the Concert Series Board for many years. She also dedicated her angelic voice singing in the choir of First Lutheran Church.
Her family will also remember her unwavering devotion to God. Despite her illness, she selflessly prayed for the needs of others, knowing that truly “The Best Is Yet to Come.”
All that knew Patti were touched, not only by her prayers but also the cards, letters, and messages of encouragement, when they needed it most. She knew when to provide all the little extras that made people feel special.
Patricia was welcomed into heaven by parents Loren and Palma Norby, and her brother Larry.
Patti is survived by her spouse, Theodore, of Fergus Falls; sons, Kyle Halverson, Bay City, WI; Christian (Eydie Campbell) Halverson of Minneapolis; and daughter, Heidi (Steve) Case of Colorado Springs, CO; as well as a step-daughter, Shana (Eric) Klindt of Campbell.
