Patricia Catherine Berndt, 76, of Breckenridge, MN, passed away on Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at CHI St. Francis Nursing Home in Breckenridge, MN. The visitation will be from 4:30 to 7:00 PM, with a prayer service at 5:00 and Rosary at 6:00, on Friday, April 21, at Joseph Vertin and Sons Funeral Home in Breckenridge. The visitation will continue at the funeral home, on Saturday, April 22, from 9:00 to 9:45 AM, followed by the 10:00 AM, Mass of Christian Burial, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Breckenridge. Father Joseph Backowski will be the celebrant. The interment will be at a later date.
Patricia "Pattie" Pazdernik was born in Breckenridge, MN, on March 16, 1941, the daughter of Edwin and Marcella (Korinek) Pazdernik. She graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1960. On August 5, 1967, Pattie was united in marriage to Kenneth Berndt. They were blessed with one daughter, Phyllis. Pattie was employed at St. Francis Nursing Home for about 25 years. During this time she logged over 1000 hours of time volunteering and visiting with the residents of the nursing home. When she and Kenny retired, they moved to Tennessee to be closer to their daughter, Phyllis and her family. In 2008, the couple returned to Breckenridge and moved into Twin Town Villa.
Pattie loved playing 500 Rummy and going out to eat. She was a long-time viewer of the Price is Right, Wheel of Fortune, and Little House on the Prairie. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, which was demonstrated through her persistent prayers for them. Reading the bible was part of Pattie's daily devotions. She also loved to spend time with family and friends.
Pattie will be missed by her daughter, Phyllis (Brent) Thompson of Knoxville, TN, and their children, Brandon (Claudia Lugo) Thompson and Chase Thompson; her great- granddaughter, Caitlyn Thompson; her brothers, James (Bonita) Pazdernik of New Salem, ND, Irvan (Tonya) Pazdernik and Ivan (Cindy) Pazdernik both of Alexandria, MN; her sisters, Darlene Prochnow of Wahpeton, ND and Kathleen (Ronald) Barth of Clitherall, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Marcella; her husband, Kenneth; her brother, Harold (Joycelyn) Pazdernik; and sister, Elaine Pazdernik.
The family would like to express their gratitude for the compassionate care given to Pattie while at St. Francis Nursing Home and Twin Town Villa.
