Norma Inga Olson, 86, of Breckenridge, MN, passed away on January 11, 2016, at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND. The funeral will be 1:00 PM at the Breckenridge Lutheran Church, on Friday January 15, with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Pastor Mark Manning is officiating. The interment will be at Fort Snelling at a later date.
Norma was born on August 31, 1929, to John and Louise Basol on a farm near Portland, ND. She attended country school near her home and then graduated from high school in Finley, ND. Following graduation, she attended St. Luke's School for Nursing in Fargo, ND, and became a Registered Nurse. Norma was hired as an ER Nurse at St. Luke's Hospital in Fargo and eventually shifted to the First Floor Supervisor. She was united in marriage to Alvin Jensen in1959, and the couple made their home in Breckenridge. Along with being a wife and mother of two children, Norma was a nurse at the Breckenridge Clinic, and in time, became the Director of Nursing at St. Francis Nursing Home in Breckenridge. Alvin passed away in 1976. She was united in marriage to Julian Olson in 1980 and continued to reside in Breckenridge. Julian preceded her in death in 2005.
Norma was an active member of the Breckenridge Lutheran Church, the Sons of Norway, and the VFW Auxiliary. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to a favorite charity or to Breckenridge Lutheran Church.
Norma is survived by her children, Byron Jensen of Minneapolis, MN, and Curtis (Cheryl) Jensen of West Fargo, ND; her stepchildren, Linda (Darrell) Stuehrenberg of Davie, FL, Linette (Dave) Meyer of Breckenridge, Linnea (Frank) Anderson of Fargo, ND, and Lonny Olson of Golden Valley, MN; 17 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; her sisters-in-law, Agnes Basol of Portland, ND and Beverly Basol of Mayville, ND. She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Louise; her husbands, Alvin Jensen and Julian Olson; her five brothers, Elvin, Norman, Leonard, Gerhard, and Vernon; her three sisters, Lillian Jemtrud, Verna Eckman, and Gina Grendalen.
