The funeral service will be at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, September 26, at Joseph Vertin and Sons Funeral Home in Breckenridge, MN; with a visitation one hour prior from 12:00 to 1:00 PM. The interment will be at Homestead Cemetery near Wyndmere. Pastor Mark Manning will officiate the services.
Mina was born on March 17, 1921, in Fergus Falls, MN, one of three children born to Irl and Lela (Tayer) Johnson. She graduated from Underwood High School in 1939. Her older brother was serving in the military at that time, so Mina stayed home on the family farm to help out with chores including, milking cows, feeding chickens, and gardening. After she left the farm, Mina traveled throughout the United States and eventually ended up in Wyndmere, ND, where her and her uncle, Elmo, ran a café. It was at this café that she met the love of her life, Iver Morris Olson. Mina and Iver were united in marriage on October 24, 1947, in Sisseton, SD. The couple farmed north of Wyndmere and eventually near Litchville, ND. They were blessed with two daughters, Mary and Dorothy. After retiring from the farm at Litchville, they returned to Wyndmere where Mina was employed as an accountant at the Farmers Union. Iver passed away in 1993. In 1998, she moved to Fargo to live with her daughter, Dorothy.
Mina was an active member of the Wyndmere American Legion Auxiliary, proudly serving for over 50 years. She enjoyed the fellowship of being a member of the Lutheran Church in Wyndmere and attending Hope Lutheran Church and their bible studies, in Fargo. Mina loved to work on crossword puzzles and counted cross-stitch, and looked forward to visiting with family and friends.
Mina will be missed by her daughters, Mary (James) Warrey of Milbank, SD and Dorothy Olson of Fargo, ND; her three grandsons, Kenton Warrey of Aberdeen, SD, Quentin (Amy) Warrey of Alexandria, MN, and Benjamin (Jamie) Warrey of Madison, SD; and her seven great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Iver; and two brothers, Leonard and Charles.
