Lyle Picotte, age 87, of Wolverton, MN, passed away on April 29, 2023, at the His funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Wolverton with visitation beforehand from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Mitchell Township Cemetery. Lyle’s service will be live streamed on his obituary page. Arrangements have been entrusted to Joseph Vertin and Sons Funeral Home, Breckenridge.
Lyle Picotte, born on January 1, 1936 in Fargo, North Dakota to Ernest and Olive Picotte. He spent his childhood near Wolverton, Minnesota, where he grew up on the family farm. Lyle graduated from Wolverton High School in 1953 and served in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1957.
After leaving the army, Lyle pursued an education at Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology. He achieved his degree in 1960 and began his career with Northwest Airlines in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Lyle was a dedicated employee until he returned to manage the family farm near Wolverton upon the passing of his father in 1962.
Lyle was known as more than just an accomplished farmer; he was a mentor, teacher, and inspiration to many. His work ethic and values instilled a drive in those around him to be their best selves. He was committed to bettering his community serving on the Roberts township board for an impressive tenure of thirty-six years.
In 1966, Lyle married Lois Wall. They were blessed with a son named Lowell in 1968. Together they raised their family with love and joy over fifty-six loving years of marriage. He and Lois enjoyed traveling and together, they went on many road trips throughout American and Canada.
Lyle had a passion for collecting antique tractors and visiting friends at auction sales. In his free time, he could be found working on “scrap iron” in the shop.
Lyle was preceded in death by his parents Ernest and Olive Picotte but will forever be remembered by his surviving wife Lois; Son Lowell (Deanna); two grandchildren Lydia and Landon Picotte; and those lives he touched through his kind spirit and inspiring qualities.
