Josie Miller

Josie Miller, 84, of Breckenridge, MN, passed away on Tuesday, September 18, 2018, at Pioneer Cottages in Breckenridge. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 22, 2018, at Breckenridge Lutheran Church with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Pastor Mark Manning will be officiating, and the burial will be held at Riverside Cemetery, Breckenridge.

Josephine Marion Andel, affectionately known as “Josie,” was born in Neilson Township (rural Breckenridge), MN, on October 7, 1933, to Andrew and Elizabeth Andel. She attended school in Breckenridge and on November 4th, 1949, she was united in marriage to Robert L. Miller at Breckenridge Lutheran church. The couple made their home in the Kent, MN, area until 1993 when they moved to Breckenridge.

Josie taught Sunday School at Breckenridge Lutheran Church where she was a member for many years. She also belonged to the Sarah Circle and spent many hours volunteering for the Kent senior citizens, St. Francis Hospital Auxiliary, and the Wahpeton Carousel. She cherished her family and enjoyed watching her grandchildren play sports throughout their high school and college careers. Josie was a fan of the local softball teams, cheering on the Breckenridge Cowboys and Cowgirls (she was active in the Touchdown Club), and she rarely missed a Minnesota Twins baseball game. When she wasn’t attending a sporting event, Josie could be found working on sewing or putting together new craft projects. Josie and Bob enjoyed traveling and they spent 15 winters in Texas. She carried a creative, energetic, and humorful personality that will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Josie is survived by her children, Rod (Julie) Miller of Little Falls, MN, and Tammy (Ron) Huard of Dilworth, MN; grandchildren, Tara (Kevin) Jordan of Little Falls, MN, and their children, Taylor and Brayden;  Nate (Mellissa) Miller, Opole, MN, and their children Jack, Beau, and Kaia; brother, Clarence (Mary) Andel of Inver Grove Heights, MN; brother-in-law, Ed (Diane) Miller; sisters-in-law, Irene Long and Bette (Marvin) Lenoue.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Miller; parents, Andrew and Elizabeth Andel; seven brothers and six sisters.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Joseph Vertin and Sons Funeral Home.
