John Larsen

John Larsen, 73, of Breckenridge , MN , died Sunday, June 22, 2008 at St. Francis Healthcare Campus, Breckenridge.

His funeral will be held on Wednesday, June 25, at 11:00 AM at Breckenridge Lutheran Church in Breckenridge, with Pastor Mark Manning officiating.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 24, from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM at Joseph Vertin & Sons Funeral Home, Breckenridge , MN . There will also be visitation one hour prior to the funeral at the church. Committal will be at Rindal Lutheran Cemetery , Underwood, MN.

Carl John Larsen Jr. was born March 15, 1935 at Wadena , MN to Carl J. and Laura (Uhren) Larsen. He received his elementary education at rural schools in Ottertail County . He attended the West Central School of Agriculture at Morris, MN and the North Dakota State School of Science, Wahpeton, ND. He received a Bachelors Degree at the University of Wisconsin . John was united in marriage to Marian Nelson on November 3, 1956 at Rindal Lutheran Church , rural Underwood, MN. They made their home at Underwood, Battle Lake , Fergus Falls and Breckenridge. He was a member of Breckenridge Lutheran Church where he had served on the church council, the board of education, the trust fund committee, and taught Sunday school.

John enjoyed fishing, hunting, collecting and refinishing guns. He was a member of the rod and gun club, a life member of the Head of the Red Trap Shooting Club and a charter member of the rifle club. He was employed at the North Dakota State College of Science for 26 years as an Instructor and Administrator, retiring in 1991.

John is survived by his wife: Marian, Breckenridge, MN; Three children and their families: Bruce and Terri Larsen, Laura and Lance, Virginia, MN; Marilee and Dennis Kraft, Ashleigh and Amelia, Marshall, MN; Maxine and Tom Brosowske, Molly and Jeffrey, Wyndmere, ND; One brother: Loyal and Marlene Larsen, Underwood, MN

He was preceded in death by: His parents: Carl J. and Laura Larsen; and two brothers: Loren and Joseph
