Jane Buchholz

Jane Lenora Buchholz, age 91 of West Fargo, ND, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at Eventide Sheyenne Crossings Care Center and was surrounded by her loving family. 

Jane lived a life filled with love, kindness, and grace. She touched the lives of many with her warmth and generosity, leaving behind a legacy of compassion and goodwill. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Jane was born on May 23,1933, to Selmer and Clara (Bilden) Brenden in Rothsay, MN. She grew up on the farm and attended country school. Jane graduated from Rothsay High School in 1951 and then continued her education at Moorhead State Teacher’s College. After earning her bachelor’s degree, Jane became a teacher of 2nd and 3rd grades and taught in Pelican Rapids, Fergus Falls, and Glenwood, ending her teaching in Moorhead in May of 1961. On June 30, 1961, Jane married the love of her life, Glen Buchholz in Rothsay, MN. They made their home on the farm where they raised their daughter, Sheri. Jane was a proud mom and a homemaker helping her husband with farming. She was also actively involved with her small-town community, being a member of Homemaker’s Club, Ladies Aid, and 4H. After Glen retired from farming in 2001, the family moved to Pelican Rapids, MN. In 2002, after living in Pelican Rapids just a short time, they moved to Breckenridge. In 2007, Glen and Jane relocated into Twin Town Villa. On May 2013, a few years after Glen’s passing, Jane moved into Eventide Sheyenne Crossings in West Fargo, ND.

Jane enjoyed cooking, canning, and baking, especially pies and various desserts. She was especially known for her birthday cakes with white fluffy frosting. Jane also enjoyed planting flowers around the house and sewing. Most of all, she loved time spent with her family and friends, sharing meals, telling stories, talking on the phone, sending home a lot of goodies and warm memories. Above all, Jane treasured spending time with her grandchildren, always cherishing the moments they shared together. Her strong commitment to her loved ones never wavered, leaving a lasting impact on all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Jane is survived by her daughter, Sheri (Tory) Nissen of West Fargo, ND; grandchildren, Cody (Dan) Portlock of West Fargo, ND and Tyler Nissen of Hickory, NC; great grandchildren, Evelyn, Abram, and Alyssa Portlock, Peyton, and Kinsley Nissen; sisters-in-law, Margaret Brenden of Moorhead, MN, Faye Groen of Breckenridge, MN, and Cheryl (Ronald) Affield of Kent, MN; brothers-in-law, Louis (Sharon) Buchholz of Pelican Rapids, MN and Loren Buchholz of Wadena, MN; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, Selmer and Clara Brenden; beloved husband, Glen Buchholz; sister, Eileen (Albert) Buchholz; brother, Selvin Brenden; brothers-in-law, Leo (Elaine), Earl (Lois), and Donald Buchholz; sisters-in-law, Mary Buchholz, Margie Long, Jean Swenson, and Frances (Tom) Williams.

Visitation for Jane will be on Monday, August 26, 2024 from 3-6 PM at Joseph Vertin and Sons Funeral Home in Breckenridge, MN. Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at 2 PM at Faith Lutheran Church in Wolverton, MN, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Pastor Devlyn Brooks will officiate the service. Burial will be in Mitchell Township Cemetery in rural Wolverton, MN. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to be sent to Sanford Hospice House or Wolverton Faith Lutheran Church. Family would like to express special gratitude to Eventide Sheyenne Crossings and Sanford Hospice staff for their kind and loving care.
