Grace was born October 4, 1930, to Louis and Elizabeth (DeBoever) Nordick, Sr., at their home in Rural Kent, MN. She grew up and attended school in rural Kent, graduating from Breckenridge High School in 1948. Following graduation, she joined the staff at Breckenridge High School as secretary to the Principal, working there for a few years. On November 12, 1952, Grace was united in marriage to Gerald Krump at St. Thomas Catholic Church. They were blessed with four children and lived in Kent until 1957, at which time they moved to Femco Farm No. 2 just south of Kent. They raised dairy cows and small grains. In October of 2003, Grace and Gerald moved to Breckenridge where they have resided since.
If you looked in the Webster's dictionary for the word tenacious, there would be a picture of Grace next to it. She lived her life with purpose and determination, and raised her children the same way. She was loved for her dedication and service to others, and respected for her spunk. With the heart of a servant, she was involved in St. Thomas Catholic Church including missions circle and the ladies aide. She was past president of the church bazaar, with a special love for the "Cherry Tree". Other areas of dedicated service were the historical museum and the Eagles Club. In her later years, Grace treasured her involvement in the local bowling league, and was honored for bowling in 25 national tournaments. Grace was a skilled and pristine gardener. The fruits of her labor were quickly consumed at the dinner table. Anyone who drove into her yard or walked inside St. Thomas Church could enjoy the beauty of her gift for growing flowers. Grace loved quilting, sewing, knitting, and keeping an immaculate house. Above and beyond all else, was her love for family. Her crowning glory was being a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Grace is survived by her husband of 61 years, Gerald; her son, Ron (Carol) Krump of Kent, MN, and their 4 children, Kristie Althoff, Michelle (Anthony) Holm and their children, Jaden, Olivia, and Makayla; Thomas Althoff, and James Althoff (fiancé, Laura Kiffmeyer); her daughter, LuAnn (John) Vassar of Independence, MN, and their 6 children, Neil (Katie) and their 2 children, Noah and Gabrielle, Anne Vassar, Paul Vassar, Mary (Lee) Pepin, and their 2 children, Francis and James, Holly Vassar, and Dale Vassar; her daughter, Diane Krump of Plymouth, MN; and her son, Allen (Lorna) Krump of Breckenridge, and their children, Randy(Trish) Dunn, Brian Dunn (fiancé, Ami Booke) and his children, Kevin, Ethan, and Colton Dunn; her 2 brothers, Louis Nordick, Jr. and Ralph Nordick; her sister, Ruth Triepke; and many nieces and nephews.
