Glenn James Waldera, 79, passed away on Tuesday, August 7th, 2018 in his home surrounded by his family. He was born on October 21st, 1938 in Geneseo, ND to Roman and Rosalie (Jagodzinski) Waldera. Glenn grew up in Geneseo, ND, and graduated from Lidgerwood High School. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served four years aboard the USS Shangri-La. Later, he served in the United States National Guard for over 10 years.
Glenn worked road construction before moving to Wahpeton where he took a job with Globe-Gazette. He was later employed as a salesman for Smith Motors for 40+ years before retiring in 2017.
In 1966, Glenn married Lois Fluto, from this union three children were born. In 1984, Glenn married Carol Ringdahl and gained two more sons. Glenn and Carol raised their family in Wahpeton and were members of St. John’s Parish. Glenn was actively involved in the Wahpeton Eagles Club and was also a member of the Wahpeton Vets Club. He enjoyed fishing and hunting with his family and close friends. He was very proud of his garden and enjoyed sharing the bounty of his efforts. Glenn enjoyed his love/hate relationship with the Minnesota Twins and watched many games. He will forever be remembered for his sense of humor and funny stories.
Glenn is survived by his loving spouse, Carol, of 34 years; his children, Jodi (Mark) Beyer, Breckenridge; Brad (Michelle) Waldera, Detroit Lakes; Brett (Jodi) Waldera, West Fargo; Jason (Vanessa) Ringdahl, Denver, CO; Ryan Ringdahl of Fargo, ND; and his nine grandchildren.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, Roman and Rosalie Waldera; his brothers, Gerald Waldera and Roman “Skip” Waldera.
The visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, August 10, 2018, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Wahpeton, with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 11, 2018, at St. John’s Catholic Church with Father Tony Welle officiating. The family will be greeting friends and family for a visitation period one hour prior to the service. The burial will immediately follow the Mass of Christian Burial at Calvary Cemetery, Wahpeton. In lieu of flowers, memorials to CHI-Health at Home, Breckenridge or to a hospice organization of your choice are preferred.
