Evelyn Dudgeon

Angels took Evelyn “Evie” Dudgeon, age 91, of Breckenridge, MN, and formerly of Campbell, MN, to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 30, 2020.  Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a private family service will be held at 10 AM, Thursday, January 7, 2021, at Joseph Vertin and Sons Funeral Home, Breckenridge, with a public walk-thru visitation from 9AM -10 AM.  A public interment will be held at Lake George Cemetery in Lake George, MN at 1:30 p.m. that same day.  Father Stan Weiser will officiate. A live-stream of the service will be available at www.JosephVertinandSons.com, where condolences to the family may be left.

Evelyn was born in St. Louis Park, MN, on September 7, 1929, to James and Margaret Larkin.  She was united in marriage to Eugene “Gene” Dudgeon on February 3, 1951, in Cambridge, MN.  They were married for 64 years until Gene’s death in 2015.  Together they were blessed with seven children.

Evie was the matriarch of her family, she loved them deeply and enjoyed talking to them often on the phone. Her face would lighten up with joy when they came for a visit.  And when the house was quiet, she would cuddle with her precious cats.

Evie’s faith was strong and she is now with her beloved husband, whom she missed so much.

She is survived by her children, Marge Geist, of Campbell, MN; Gene Dudgeon, Jr., of Moorhead, MN; Sharon (Harry) Walter, of Scottsdale, AZ; Jim (Melody) Dudgeon, of Palmetto, FL; Wanda (Ronney) Wendlandt, of Hutchinson, MN; Allen (Judy) Dudgeon, of West Fargo, ND; and Joseph (David) Dudgeon, of Fargo; two sisters, Janice and Julia; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gene Dudgeon; brothers, Jerome and Vernon Larkin; and sister, Josephine Zieske.
