Emery Hagen, Sr.

Emery Hagen, Sr. 78, Breckenridge, MN, passed away on Saturday, September 9, 2017, at CHI-St. Francis Health, Breckenridge, MN.  A memorial gathering will be held on Thursday, September 14, from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM, at Joseph Vertin and Sons Funeral Home, Breckenridge, MN, with a prayer service at 6 PM, with Rev. Mark Manning officiating.  Arrangements are entrusted to Joseph Vertin and Sons Funeral Home, Breckenridge, MN.

Emery was born on December 20, 1938 to Axel and Pearl (Weibush) Hagen in Hendrum, MN.  He grew up in Horace, ND, and graduated from West Fargo High School.  In 1958, he enlisted in the US Marine Corps and served as an MP until his honorable discharge in 1964.

Emery was united in marriage to Patricia Theede on April 1, 1970, in Fargo, ND.  To this union four children were born.  The couple moved to Breckenridge, MN in 1974, where Emery worked various jobs around the area including hauling beets in the fall.  In 2010, he moved to York Manor where he lived until just recently.  He enjoyed barbequing, playing cards, and a lot of outdoor activities including fishing and gardening.

Emery is survived by his children, Deerae (Arthur) Nelson, Wahpeton, ND, Robin (Mike) Heinonen, Mahnomen, MN, Oscar Hagen, Breckenridge, MN, Paul (Kera) Hagen, Fargo, ND; his eight grandchildren;  his sister, Alvida Kraft, San Diego, CA; and his half-brother, Milton Olslund, Fertile, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Philip Hagen.
