Elsie Julia Hulne was born on April 28, 1918 in rural Kent, MN, the daughter of Alphonse and Mary Belle (Prody) Hulne. She grew up on the family farm and attended country school near Kent. On July 22, 1941, Elsie was united in marriage to E.A. "Curly" Pedersen, at St. Thomas Catholic Church. Strong family ties and a love of the Red River Valley, led the couple to raise their five children in same rural area Elsie grew up in. She was an active member of St. Thomas Church and a skillful flower gardener. Curly and Elsie shared a love of dancing and waltzed their way on to the dance floors of many notable Big Bands. They particularly enjoyed dancing to Kenny Baker and other bands at the Wahpeton Eagle's Club. She took pleasure in crafting and playing games, especially card games. She cherished her family and always looked forward to spending time with them.
Elsie's family would like to express their gratitude to CHI Riveredge Hospice for their compassionate care; and the staff at Twin Town Villa and St. Francis Nursing Home for providing the open arms of welcome and love.
Elsie will be missed by her five children, James (Dianne) Pedersen of Camarillo, CA, Janet (Ronald) Olson, of Kingman, AZ, Judy (Jim) Lorenz of Billings, MT, Joyce (Doug) Muehlberg of Greenfield, MA, and Jackie Lorenz of Houston, TX; her 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; her brothers, Joe Hulne of Breckenridge and Clarence (Betty) Hulne of Fargo, ND; her sister, Gladys Ritchie of Kent; her sister-in-law, June Hulne of West Fargo, ND; and many nieces and nephews. Elsie was preceded in death by her parents, Alphonse and Mary Belle; her husband, Curly (February 4, 2007); her sister, Margaret Picotte Krook; her brother, Walter Hulne; brothers-in-law, Herb Ritchie and Larry Picotte; and sister-in-law, Helen Hulne.
