Earlean M. Kuehn, 86, of Wahpeton, ND, formerly Lidgerwood, ND , died November 14, 2012 at St. Catherine's Living Center. The visitation is at Joseph Vertin & Sons Funeral Home, Breckenridge, MN, Friday, November 16 from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM with Pastor Ryan Drevlow officiating. The funeral is at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Lidgerwood, ND, on Saturday November 17 at 1:00PM with a visitation one hour prior to the funeral at the church. Reverend Joseph Crosswhite, III is officiating. Interment is at Holy Cross Cemetery, Lidgerwood, ND
Earlean Melvina (Shustrom) Kuehn was born on April 13, 1926 in Duerr Township, rural Lidgerwood, ND, the daughter of Harold and Betsy (Hanson) Shustrom. She was baptized on May 23, 1926 and confirmed on May 7, 1939 in Bergen Lutheran Church; rural Lidgerwood, by Rev. P.M. Bratlie. Earlean attended country school at Duerr No. 4, for eight years, and then furthered her education at Lidgerwood High School, graduating in 1944. She then worked in Duluth and St. Paul, MN, and Lidgerwood, ND.
On September 22, 1949, Earlean married Arthur Kuehn at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Lidgerwood. The couple made their home in Duerr Township for five years, and then moved to the Kuehn family farm in Moran Township, where they raised their two children. They farmed until 1989 and continued living on the farm until September, 1998, when they moved to Wahpeton, ND. She resided at St. Catherine's Living Center for several years. Art preceded her in death on June 8, 2004.
Earlean was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, taught Sunday school, and was an active member in LWML. She was also a member of the Wahpeton Senior Citizens. Earlean enjoyed being a homemaker; baking, gardening, canning, quilting with the ladies group at church, and reading. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family, and visits with her two special granddaughters and their families.
Earlean is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: Bev and Harvey Medenwaldt, Breckenridge, MN; her son and daughter-in-law: John and Betty Kuehn, Phoenix, AZ; her granddaughters, Shayla (Corey) Leinen, and their children Brady and Abigail; and Melanie (Jeremy) Harrison and their children Atalia and Taven; her step-grandchildren: Tammy Billick and Steven Shutts; her step-great-grandchildren, Samantha and Gage Billick and Erika and James Shutts; her sister, Ramona Kadoun, Lidgerwood, ND; her brother Wayne (Kathleen) Shustrom, Winona, MN; her sister in law Grace Siler and several nieces and nephews.
