Dr. Kenneth Weidman

June 30, 1940 — April 27, 2018

Breckenridge

Kenneth James Weidman, DDS died on Friday, April 27 at his home, outside under a blue sky.  He was born in Rochester, Minnesota on June 30, 1940.  He spent his entire young life there through Rochester Junior College.  He then attended the University of Minnesota where he eventually graduated dental school.  While awaiting a call to serve in the Vietnam war, he accepted an interim position with Drs. Young and Herder in Breckenridge.  He took over the practice upon their retirement.  Ken practiced dentistry in Breckenridge for many years until his retirement in 2011.  In his retirement, he continued to work as a Clinical Instructor for the NDSCS Dental Hygiene Program where he continued to work until the present time.  He found great satisfaction in the time and energy he devoted to helping young students excel in their dental careers.   His passion for all things in nature, especially fly fishing and hunting began in his childhood.  One of his greatest joys was passing this knowledge on to his children and grandchildren.  Dr. Weidman was a purist at heart.  He loved all things Minnesota.  The Vikings, the Twins, the Wild, the Gophers, pheasants, grouse, and walleye.  But the thing he loved and cherished most was time spent with his family and sharing laughter with those he loved.  He recently celebrated his 50th wedding anniversary with the love of his life…Rena.

Dr. Weidman is survived by his wife Rena; his children Erik (and Tammy Rorem) from Albuquerque, NM; Mark (and Darcy Weidman) from Townsend, MT; Peter (and Kelli Rorem) from Fall City, WA; Risa (and Jason Hoge) from Stillwater, MN; his grandchildren Corey, Jordan, Micah and Logan in Montana; Julia and Joey in Seattle; Jenna in Albuquerque; Levi and Zoe in Fall City, WA;  Raina, Avery and Brett in Stillwater, MN; Lindsay in Bend, OR and Jayne in Brooklyn, NY; his great grandchildren James and Emerson in Montana; and his brother John in Minnesota.  He was preceded in death by his parents Orv and Peg, and sister Dwayna.
