Denise Ann Jacklitch, age 58, of Breckenridge, MN, passed away on Saturday, July 30, 2016, in her home, surrounded by her loving family and under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. There will be a visitation on Wednesday, August 3, 2016, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with a prayer service at 7:30 PM, at Joseph Vertin and Sons Funeral Home in Breckenridge. The Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 AM on Thursday, August 4, 2016, at St. John's Catholic Church in Wahpeton, ND, with a visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place at 1:00 PM on Friday, August 5, 2016 at St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery in Mooreton, ND. Father Patrick Parks is officiating. Joseph Vertin and Sons Funeral home is assisting the family.
Denise was born on August 28, 1957, in Breckenridge, MN to Francis and Jeanette (Kurtz) Breuer. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Mooreton, ND, and graduated from Wahpeton High School in 1975. Following high school graduation, Denise attended North Dakota State College of Science to work towards a degree in Business. Denise married Stan Jacklitch on August 16, 1986 in Mooreton. They made their home in Breckenridge.
Denise and her husband, Stan, owned and operated the Stop and Go Store in Breckenridge. Denise also worked for the United States Postal Service.
Denise enjoyed cheering on her boys and all of their sports activities, and spending as much time as possible caring for her grandchildren and delighting in their smiles. She loved all animals, especially her horses- Smokey in particular; and her dogs, which also brought joy to her life. Some people have Christmas in December; some in July. Denise had Christmas all year round. Sunrises brightened her day in the early morning and sunsets added peace to her evenings. Her outdoor flowers couldn't be planted fast enough in the springtime. Her family and friends will always remember Denise as a caring and responsible daughter, wife, mom, grandma, and friend. You could always count on Denise to give you her honest opinion and get things done! Her family and friends will miss her caring and loving presence.
Denise is survived by her husband, Stan, and their children: Jeremy Breuer, of Montana; Jamie Jacklitch (Briana) of Breckenridge; and Bryan Jacklitch (Kiah Smith), of Montana; Grandchildren: Halle Vareburg, Jordyn Breuer, Lucas Jacklitch, and Kaleb Jacklitch; her mother, Jeanette Breuer, of Mooreton; her siblings: Diana Barendt, of Mooreton; Susan Garza (Jesse), of Mission, TX; Michael Breuer (Kari Krull), of Walcott, ND; and Julie Aakre (Fred Johnson), of Wahpeton; and many nieces and nephews.
Denise was preceded in death by her father, Francis Breuer; her paternal grandparents, Matthew and Catherine (Heitkamp) Breuer; her maternal grandparents, Louise and Eva Kurtz; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Leo and Leola Jacklitch; and her two brothers-in-law, Guy Barendt and Kelly Aakre.
