Darlene Church, 73, of Breckenridge, MN, passed away on Saturday, May 11, 2019, at Essentia Health in Fargo, ND. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 14, 2019, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, followed by a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Joseph Vertin and Sons Funeral Home in Breckenridge. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, May 15, 2019, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by her funeral service at 2:00 PM at the Breckenridge United Methodist Church, with Rev. Mark Gronseth officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Wahpeton, ND. Arrangements are entrusted to Joseph Vertin and Sons Funeral Home.
Darlene Church was born on April 27, 1946, in Breckenridge, MN, to Howard and Lorraine (Hedtke) Church. She grew up in Campbell, MN, and graduated from Campbell High School in 1964. After high school, Darlene NDSCS in Wahpeton to study secretary school for a year, and later went to a year of schooling for keypunching in Milwaukee, WI. In 1981 she returned to Wahpeton, ND, where she worked at 3M for 25 years, retiring on August 15, 2006.
Darlene was a member of Breckenridge United Methodist Church where she stayed very involved teaching Sunday School and serving as president of the United Methodist Women. She had a love for music and enjoyed singing in the Musical Art Club. Christmas was Darlene’s favorite time of the year; she loved seeing her family, and especially adored her grandchildren.
Darlene is survived by her mother, Lorraine Church; two sons, Larry (Ellen) Neuman and Christopher (Michelle) Neuman; grandchildren, Michael (Courtney) Neuman, Victoria Neuman, Krystopher Webber, and Siarra Pourchez; siblings, Eileen (Jim) Boelke, Becky (Gary) Lankow, and Kendall (Teri) Church; godchildren, Jennifer Hill, Keith Church, and Becky Lankow; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Shirley Berg.
She was preceded in death by her father, Howard Church, and her brother, Allen Church.
The family of Darlene would like to thank the staff at Twin Town Villa, Breckenridge, for their exceptional care for Darlene throughout the years.
