Darlene was born on July 25, 1931, in Breckenridge, MN, one of six children to Rudolph and Grace (Getz) Briks. She graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1949 and immediately went to work as a bank teller for the Farmers and Merchants State Bank in Breckenridge. In 1973, Darlene moved to Houston, TX to be in a warmer climate. With her experience in banking, she quickly set her employment roots down at Wells Fargo Bank in Houston where she remained a dedicated employee until she retired in 1995.
Darlene loved the adventure of traveling and was fortunate to have gone on many excursions with her sister, best friend, and roommate, Margie. They never missed an opportunity to come back to Breckenridge to visit family. She was an avid reader and enjoyed taking care of her plants and flowers. Before moving to Houston, Darlene was an organist for St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Brushvale for many years. She was a generous person with a big heart who was always willing to lend a hand to those who needed it. She believed in the power of prayer and her life reflected her faith. She was a member of the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Houston and cherished her relationship with her church family.
