Charlotte Ann (Theede) Carlson, age 83, of Port Orange, FL (originally of Breckenridge, MN), passed away on Monday, March 3, 2025, at Halifax Health Medical Center in Port Orange. Her service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, March 20, 2025, with a visitation beginning at 10 a.m., at Joseph Vertin and Sons Funeral Home in Breckenridge, MN. Burial will be held at Horace Lutheran Cemetery in Horace, ND. Arrangements have been entrusted to Joseph Vertin and Sons Funeral Home, Breckenridge.
Charlotte was born on November 1, 1941, in Breckenridge, MN, the oldest of three daughters to Anthony and Emma (Motis) Theede. She graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1960 and devoted her young adult life to being a mother. She was blessed with four children, Carlotta, Tina, Brian, and Darwin. Charlotte was married to Gordon Carlson in Horace, ND, in 1977, and they made their home in Longmont, CO. They worked together for Kitchen Designers where Charlotte designed beautiful kitchens for her clients while Gordon worked hard to complete the installations and bring the design to reality in their client’s homes. Charlotte and Gordon enjoyed an international trip that brought them to Scotland, Paris, and Norway where they made amazing memories together. Family was everything to them and Charlotte always looked for an opportunity to get the family together. At family gatherings there was never a shortage of lefse, pie, and laughter. Gordon passed away in 2010.
Charlotte decided to purchase a home in Florida to enjoy sunshine during the Minnesota winters. She met a farmer, Alvin Carlson, and they were married on January 7, 2014, in Port Orange, Florida. During the farming season they spent their time in Ada, MN, and wintered at their home in Florida. Wherever Charlotte was she was deeply engrained in her local church. She and Al loved traveling, drinking morning coffee together, and attending local festivals. Charlotte was an avid baker and constantly had something going in the kitchen.
Charlotte will be greatly missed by her loving husband, Al Carlson; children, Carlotta Bornstein, Tina Quintanilla, Brain Oak, and Darwin Oak; 7 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Gloria Everson and Pat (Richard) Thebo; and stepchildren, LeAnn Engen and Laneil Skaff.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gordon Carlson; son-in-law, John Bornstein; stepson, Kevin Carlson; and brother-in-law, Bud Everson.
