Cecelia Barbara Johnson, 93 of Fargo ND died under hospice care on October 14, 2010. Her funeral is Tuesday October 19, 2010 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Breckenridge, MN with Father Kenneth Popp officiating. The visitation is Monday October 18, 2010 from 5-7 pm with a prayer service at 7 pm at Joseph Vertin & Sons Funeral Home, Breckenridge. Interment is at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Brushvale, MN.
Pallbearers are her 6 grandchildren, Suzette Klose, Mary Zukaitis, Wyatt Komrosky, Wendy Komrosky, Travis Christopher, and Courtney Squiers.
Cecelia was born to John and Laura (Buth) Pechlat on November 25, 1916 on their family farm in rural Abercrombie, ND. She grew up attended the country school near Aber. She then worked at a coffee shop in Breckenridge, MN. On February 24, 1941 she was united in marriage to Neil Johnson at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Brushvale, MN. Neil joined the US Army Air Corps and Cecelia spent as much time as she could with Neil at Macon, Georgia. When he went overseas, she returned to Breckenridge and worked at Norton Bakery. After Neil's discharge from the Army in 1945, they lived in Breckenridge. In 1949 they moved to Herman, MN where they made their home and raised their 3 daughters. Cecelia was employed as the bookkeeper for Johnson Grain Company-which Neil owned. Shortly after retiring in 1989, Neil and Cecelia moved to Fargo, ND. Neil preceded her on March 13, 1992.
After her husband's death, Cecilia continued living in Fargo. She made time for her hobbies she enjoyed most- crafting, crocheting and baking. Cecelia's baking talents extended to baking and decorating numerous wedding cakes over the years. She was also an accomplished seamstress and sewed many clothes. She was an active member of St. Charles Catholic Church in Herman and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Legion of Mary. She treasured her time with all of her family including her grandchildren and great- grandchildren.
Cecelia is survived by her daughters, Elise Torbenson of Fargo, ND and children Suzette (Brad) Klose and Mary (Lucas) Zukaitis; Eileen (David) Komrosky of Valley City, ND and their children Wyatt (Rebecca) Komrosky of Fargo, ND and Wendy Komrosky of Fargo, ND; Diane (Dennis) Christopher of Minneapolis, MN and their children Travis (Jennifer) Christopher and Courtney (Jason) Squiers; her sisters, Louise Abel of Breckenridge; Florence Weiss of Breckenridge, MN; Lucille Duke of Jackson, TN; and Angeline Miller of Breckenridge, MN; her 11 great-grandchildren.
Cecelia is preceded by her husband, Neil R Johnson (1992); her parents, John and Laura (Buth) Pechlat and her son-in-law David Torbenson.
