Beverly Barrows

November 20, 1925 — April 14, 2016

Beverly J. Barrows, 90, of Moorhead, MN, formerly of Breckenridge, MN, passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2016, at Eventide Nursing Home in Moorhead. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, April 20, at 1:00 pm, with a visitation one hour prior to the service, at Joseph Vertin and Sons Funeral Home in Breckenridge. Pastor Mark Gronseth will be officiating. The interment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Breckenridge.
Beverly Jane McCullough was born on November 20, 1925, to Edward E. and Edna I. (Peterson) McCullough at Fargo, ND. She began her formal education in Fargo then moved to Breckenridge in 1937 when her mother married W.B. (Bill) Hart. She graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1943 where she was also a drummer in the marching band. Following high school, she worked two years for the Warner Insurance Company in Fargo, ND. Then in the fall of 1945, she attended North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton, ND. On June 16, 1946, Beverly was united in marriage to Larry L. Barrows at Breckenridge. She was employed with the Western Telephone Company in Breckenridge for two years before moving with her family to Moorhead where her husband accepted a position at the Fargo Forum. He worked for the Forum for 41 years. Larry passed away on March 1, 1995.
Beverly was a member of the First Congregational Church in Moorhead. Her family meant the world to her and every moment with her children and grandchildren was precious. Beverly expressed her zeal for life through her love of dancing. She tapped-danced before many audiences in the Fargo Theatre and when time allowed, she loved to go dancing with her husband, Larry. Beverly was an avid Bison and Viking football fan and in recent years, loved to play bingo and never missed an episode of the Price is Right or the Wheel of Fortune.
Beverly will be missed by her three sons, Jim (Carolyn) Barrows, Jack (Kathleen) Barrows, and Jeff Barrows; her daughters, Judy Barrows, Jane (Kevin) Herk; her twelve grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Edna; and her husband, Larry; and two brothers, Robert and William.
