Betty Jean (Zwiers) Donnan

Betty was born on August 26, 1930, in Cambridge, MN, to Marlo and Hazel (Courcier) Zwiers. Following her graduation from Cambridge High School, she attended college at St. Cloud State University, earning a teaching degree. Her first teaching job relocated her to Campbell, Minnesota, where Betty met and later married Earl Donnan, on October 12, 1952. In 1967, Earl and Betty moved their family to Wheaton, MN. She later went back to college and earned a master's degree in special education from Minnesota State University Moorhead, MN. She taught Title 1 in Wheaton and also taught for many years at the Chokio/Alberta school.
In 1997, Earl and Betty retired to Rapid City, SD, where she lived until her death.
Betty enjoyed her family, watching her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren mature and succeed. She also enjoyed volunteering and making many friends at the library in Rapid City. She loved watching bull riding at the rodeo and 4th of July trips to Lake McConaughy, NE. Her frequent trips to Colorado and Minnesota to see family and friends always brought a smile to her face.
She is survived by children, Sharyl Berg of Wendell, MN, Caryl (Gaylord) Nack of Alexandria, MN, Colleen (Doug) Fischer of Rapid City, SD, Marleen (Gary) Gruneich of Fruita, CO, David (Julie) Donnan of Littleton, CO, and Peter (Kevin) Donnan-Marsh of St. Louis Park, MN; sister-in-law, Jane Donnan of St Louis Park, MN, and brother-in-law, Joslyn Donnan of St. Louis Park, MN; sister-in-law, Marilyn Zwiers of Wisconsin, and brother-in-law, Frank Hensch of Campbell, MN; 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Earl, her parents Marlo and Hazel Zwiers, a sister Vivian Zwiers, brother Duane Zwiers, sisters-in-law, Nola Hensch and Beverly Norton, brother- in-law Robert Norton, son-in-law Edwin Berg and twin infants.
