Austin Herman Oak, 37, of Breckenridge, MN, passed away on Monday, November 16, 2020, at Sanford Medical Center, Fargo, ND. A public visitation will be held from 12 PM to 2 PM, followed by a private family service at 2 PM on Thursday, December 3, 2020, at New Life Church of God, Wahpeton, ND. Reverend David Kuhfal will be officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Joseph Vertin and Sons Funeral Home, Breckenridge.
Austin was born on November 28, 1982, in Fargo, ND, to Charles and Ann Oak. Austin grew up in Fergus Falls, MN, where he graduated high school in 2001.
In 2011, Austin met Taimi through a mutual friend and a few years later, were married on November 16, 2013. They made their home in Breckenridge where they raised their daughter, Evelyn.
Austin worked at several places over the past 10 years in the Wahpeton/Breckenridge area including Prime wood, WCCO, Walmart, and NAPA. With each job he held, it was evident that he impacted several people with his weird knowledge and his crazy, ridiculous jokes. Austin loved spending time with his family, especially his daughter Evelyn. They loved to play guitar, remote control cars, and video games together. Austin loved to eat; he loved to cook new dishes for his family and friends. While cooking, he enjoyed using that time to teach his wife and daughter the “proper way” to cook.
Austin is survived by his wife, Taimi Oak; daughter, Evelyn; step-daughter, Debi; half-brother, Darwin Oak; adopted brother, Brian Oak; two adopted sisters; Uncle, Mike (Sandy) Oak; cousin, Susie Tipton; and many nieces and nephews; and numerous friends that were like family to him, and all those who knew him.
Austin is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Ann Oak; brother, Justin Oak; maternal and paternal grandparents; and some aunts and uncles.
