Audrey Gronwold, 82 of Tintah, MN died Sunday, October 27, 2013 at St. Francis Nursing Home in Breckenridge. Funeral services will be 1:00PM Wednesday, October 30 at St. Gall's Catholic Church in Tintah, MN with the interment at St. Gall's Cemetery. The visitation will be at St. Gall's Church from 5:00 to 7:00PM, Tuesday, October 29, with a prayer service following at 7:00PM. The visitation will also be one hour prior to the funeral service at the church.
Audrey was born in North Ottawa Township, Grant County, MN on September 4, 1931. She was the daughter of Peter and Mary (Schemmel) Koltes. She attended country school near their family farm. On December 1, 1948, Audrey was united in marriage to Arnold Gronwold at St. Gall's Catholic Church in Tintah.
Along with the joy of raising her children, Audrey received much gratification in tending her vegetable garden and cooking. Her home was a welcoming place, filled with the aroma of the day's menu and chattering of children and guests. Audrey loved quilting, embroidering, playing cards, and dancing. In her later years, she enjoyed periodic trips to the casino, and traveling with her best friend, Joann, to various destinations. Above all else she treasured the relationships with her children and grandchildren. Her lively personality and welcoming home will be sadly missed by all who knew her and loved her.
Audrey is survived by her daughter Louisa (Randy) Werk of Herman, MN; her sons Wes, Mark and Wayne Gronwold all of Tintah, MN, and Tom (Michelle) Gronwold of Wheaton, MN; 8 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; sisters Ione (Gary) Herman of Palmdale, CA, Carol (Tom) Sand of Granite Falls, MN and Marge Erickson of St. Joseph, MO; her brothers Vernon (Dianne) Koltes of Wendell, MN and Duane (Velda) Koltes of Campbell, MN; sister-in-laws Kareen Christiansen of Milnor, ND, and Joann Gronwold of Tintah, MN.
Audrey was preceded in death by her parents Peter and Mary Koltes; husband Arnold; children James (in infancy), Michael, Mary Margaret, and Robert; and her brother Roger Koltes.
